A revelation was made by the Presidential Candidate of the New Democratic Front, Maithripala Sirisena at a public rally held in Ruwanwella on Thursday evening.
Maithripala Sirisena stated that while he was the secretary of the SLFP he was not allowed to take disciplinary action against local politicians who were charged with sexual assault and harassment
Democratic Party Leader, Sarath Fonseka, who was present at the event stated that threatening those who are powerless in the opposition with falsified files is a shame to the country.
Hirunika Premachandra expressed her views at the event by stating that she did not leave the party, she just left the president and his leadership, filled with corruption
Leader of the National Unity Front, Azad Sally and Leader of the Nawa Sama Samaja Party, Dr. Wickremabahu Karunaratne were also present at the event.
Meanwhile, a gathering of a group of public representatives from the opposition took part in a public rally in Avissawella on Thursday.
Speaking at this event, General Secretary of the Jathika Hela Urumaya, Patali Champika Ranawaka stated that while the country is facing other major issues, the President is constructing highways, ports, beautifying cities and laying blocks on the pavement.
