Special Human Rights envoy of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Government Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe seems to be waiting for a call from President Mahinda Rajapaksha to head the Sri Lankan delegation at Geneva.
Although Samarasinghe, has led the Sri Lankan delegation at key sessions in Geneva in the past, it,s still not clear who is going to lead the team or the composition of the team.
Mean while , Ravana Balaya has called for the resignation of Minister of External Affairs, G.L. Peiris, if he is unable to make an impressive performance regarding the upcoming UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) session .
According to Ravana Balaya a majority of heads of Sri Lanka’ diplomatic missions abroad are failed politicians, who should be in retirement as they lack the required skills.National Organizer of Ravana Balaya, Venerable Iththekande Saddhathissa Thera Saddhathissa Thera said that Minister Peiris, should travel to America and conduct a media briefing against the US in order to discredit its dual policies.
The Geneeva team has always been shrouded with controversy and this time there is no reason for it to be different as all heavy weights like to play for the A team irrespective of wining or loosing.
