Provincial Counceler who Made Teacher to Kneel gets Two Years Sentance

The former UPFA provincial council member who ordered a teacher to kneel down was today given a two year jail term suspended for seven years by Puttalam High Court Judge, Priyantha Fernando.

The member Ananda Sarath Kumara was also fined Rs 50,000 and ordered to pay Rs 300,000 compensation to the teacher. He made the payment soon after the case.

The court found the PC member guilty despite the member pleading not guilty for the offenses for causing fear to the teacher and attempted assault.

The incident took place last year after the teacher removed the hem of a female students uniform as it was shorter than the specified length.
