Sumanthiran-

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran was prevented from addressing a meeting in Melbourne on Friday (13) by a group of Lankan Tamil expatriates who shouted slogans saying that they were not prepared to trust the TNA anymore.
According to reports from Melbourne, Sumanthiran was almost manhandled at a meeting arranged by TNA supporters in Sydney a few days ago as well. Following the disruption of the meeting at Home Bush, Sydney, the police had to intervene to ensure Sumanthiran’s safety.
The meeting attended by Sumanthiran was disrupted for the second time in Melbourne on Friday by a group of Lankan Tamil expatriates, who shouted slogans against the TNA and even attempted to attack the organizers of the meeting, sources said.
The meeting was later shifted to a different venue in Melbourne where Sumanthiran responded to questions raised by participants on issues such as alleged war crimes investigations and the detention of Tamil ‘political’ prisoners.
Sumanthiran told the gathering that he handled every issue affecting the Tamils in the North and East cautiously and the TNA was handling every issue in the North and East diplomatically to seek justice for those affected by the war.
He also said the TNA has not given up agitating for the release of the Tamil political prisoners and will continue to press the issue until it is achieved.
