The zoo’s oldest crocodile  Cuban has been pelted with plastic bottles and coins by visitors, said Sumedha Abeysinghe, Curator of the Dehiwala Zoological Garden’s Aquarium and Reptilium in an interview with Sunday Times.
Cuban is eight feet long and weighs around 70 kg and fifty years old but still the most aggressive in the Dehiwala Zoo Some visitors annoy  Cuban by tossing coins into Cuban’s mouth when she leaves it open to regulate body temperature while sunbathing while others throw plastic bottles.

. Sumedha Abeysinghe said that crocodiles cannot digest plastic or metal and it could harm their life.

It is a punishable offense to harass and hurt animals in zoological gardens.
