President Maithripala Sirisena has declared that he will never appoint Mr Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister even if the UNP shows its majority in Parliament.
President Sirisena speaking to foreign correspondents in Colombo said that he will not appoint persons as Mr Wickremesinghe or even persons like Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka whom he claims is implicated in the case of the plot to assassinate him.
Journalists raised questions as to how he could ignore if the UNP was to prove its majority in Parliament.
President Sirisena explained that incidents of corruption and wrong deals forced him to take the decision to remove Prime Minister Wickremesinghe from his post.
He said all actions taken by him were legal and constitutional and that he had sought opinions of legal experts before taking the decisions.
