Sri Lanka Cricket: Wanindu Hasaranga Suspended for 2 T20Is due to Code of Conduct Breach

Sri Lanka T20I captain Wanindu Hasaranga has received a two-match suspension and a 50% fine for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct.

He accumulated five demerit points within a 24-month period after criticizing umpire Lyndon Hannibal following a match.
This violation translates to two suspension points, resulting in his absence from Sri Lanka’s first two T20Is against Bangladesh next month.
Additionally, Afghanistan batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz received a 15% fine and one demerit point for disobeying an umpire’s instruction during the same match.

Hasaranga: Level 2 breach of Article 2.13 (personal abuse of an umpire) – 50% fine, 3 demerit points
Gurbaz: Level 1 breach of Article 2.4 (disobeying an umpire) – 15% fine, 1 demerit point
Hasaranga: verbally criticized umpire Hannibal after the match regarding a decision.
Gurbaz: changed his bat grip despite repeated warnings from the umpire.
Hasaranga: suspended for Sri Lanka’s first two T20Is vs. Bangladesh.
Gurbaz: no further action required.

Both players accepted the sanctions without formal hearings.
The charges were levied by on-field and reserve umpires.
