Customs is struggling to collect revenue targets.

The October revenue is around 109 billion rupees and the Sri Lanka customs is unlikely to achieve the   1,226 billion rupee annual target by the end of the financial year of 2023.

Sri Lanka’s Department of Customs has been able to  collect only  760 billion rupees as of  October 31st 2023
The official informed the parliament’s Committee on Public Accounts in May that it was unable to reach the given targets amid an import collapse.

The import restrictions in order to safeguard foreign currency reserves have had a negative impact on customs revenue
