Banks are short of money

Sri Lanka’s banks are facing a liquidity shortage and this shortage has created a  fall in short-term market rates The interbank market is short by around 300 billion rupees.
Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe said that steps have been taken to correct the situation.

The central bank Governor Weerasinghe said

  “will take actions to ease the interbank liquidity,”
in the next few weeks’  addressing a business forum.
