Sri Lankan Airlines which is already running at a heavy loss may deepen its financial crisis as t is refueling from Thiruvananthapuram airport.
Three Sri Lankan flights leaving Melbourne, Sydney, and Paris stopped at Thiruvananthapuram to refuel as aviation refueling was not available locally.
The stopovers have cost the airline approximately 1.5 crores in landing fees alone.

Since May 27, 204 flights coming or leaving Sri Lanka have made stopovers at Thiruvananthapuram airport for refueling

Thiruvananthapuram airport has earned around `1.5 Crore in landing fees alone.
Each long-haul flight which has around twelve hours of flying time needs about 120 tons of fuel.
