The gazette that declared Colombo and Greater Colombo as High-Security Zones had to be revoked by President Ranil Wickremesinghe as pressure was mounting from all corners.

The opposition and others became aware of the opinion that in order to declare high-security zones using the official secrets act emergency regulations and on the other hand using the official secrets act to declare high-security zones was in question.

A quick consultation with legal experts and opposition lawmakers resulted in a number of fundamental rights petitions.
