Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) which had a mega number of ministries seems to be getting uneasy with the delays in forming the new all party cabinet.
Basil Rajapaksha the national organizer of the lotus has requested President Ranil Wickremesinghe to expedite the appointment of state ministers, party officials said.
Party’s National Organizer Basil Rajapaksa told the media that the party’s MPs who were state ministers in the previous government were supposed to meet the President last night to discuss it.
Commentators say that ministers and state ministers who were used to the perks of the position may be feeling uncomfortable living without the privileges.
Mr. Rajapaksa said the party would give time for the president to form an all-party government inclusive of all the parties. However, it seems that forming an all-party government has faced a number of obstacles.
The key obstacle has been the distribution of ministerial portfolios among the different parties and the refusal of certain key parties including the main opposition to join into the fold of all parties.
