Sri Lanka in search of solar panel loans

As the influential Buddhist clergy has threatened serious protest action against the rising electricity bill, the energy minister is looking for credible sources to buy solar panels.

India and China are two possible sources said the Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara

“We have the problem of foreign exchange, making it difficult to pay for imports. One solution we have to think about is to have a credit line from India or China as panels are imported from them,”

Wijesekara told parliament.

Solar panels or Solar Photovoltaic (PV) is a technology and a simple solution where solar energy is converted to electrical energy and used to run electrical appliances, and with the increasing energy cost, solar panels are becoming popular for domestic use.
