Sri Lankan team in Washington talking to sovereign bond holders

The Sri Lanka team, led by Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe and Treasury Secretary Mahinda Siriwardene, had some difficult explanations on
how to settle sovereign bond loans of USD 13 billion in Washington DC. Only a selected number of sovereign bondholders were invited to the meeting.

Financial and legal advisers Lazard and Clifford Chase provided consultations for the discussions.  HBK Capital Management, Black Rock, Amundi Asset Management, and T. Rowe Price Associates Inc, were among the sovereign bondholders who attended the meeting.  Meanwhile on Thursday President Ranil Wickremesinghe

Call from China
Had a call from China’s Finance Minister Liu which was good news . The Chinese Finance minister is said that China was in agreement to continue debt restructuring talks.

The Central Bank Governor and the team met with the Governor of the Bangladesh Bank and after the meeting, Bangladesh officials said that they were hopeful that  Sri Lanka would repay the debt of $200 million that it owes to Bangladesh by March of next year.

The central bank governor and team are in  Washington D.C.n to discuss the proposed loan facility from the International Monetary Fund with senior IMF officials
