Sri Lanka will ensure freedom of navigation in the Indian ocean- Ranil

Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickramasinghe said

 

that   Sri Lanka does not want to see the rivalry between the great powers in the Indian Ocean region and emphasized that Sri Lanka wants to see the Indian Ocean region as a peaceful region.

 

He said

 

that Sri Lanka doesn’t want to get caught into turf war in the region and something that the Indians would like to hear” 

 

The President also said that China owns shares in Hambantota Port only as a debt management process.

The President said that Sri Lanka does not want to see the rivalry between the great powers in the Indian Ocean region and emphasized that Sri Lanka wants to see the Indian Ocean region as a peaceful region.

The President also pointed out that efforts should be made to make Sri Lanka a center of maritime commerce by affirming freedom of navigation in the Indian Ocean region.

President Ranil Wickramasinghe disclosed these views while addressing the graduation ceremony of the National Defense College held Wednesday (14).
