Moon Plains in Nuwaraelya opens up

The minister of tourism Prasanna Ranathunga has instructed the authorities to once again open up the Moon Plains in Nuwaraeliaya for tourists.

The tourist destination was closed due to the Corona pandemic The moon plains have attracted many with it’s a panoramic view of mountains.

It gives a 360 Degree view of the surrounding peaks and towns.

At the viewpoint, you will be able to see the peak point of 9 mountains in Sri Lanka on a clear day, Pidurutalaga (highest peak), Single Tree Mountain, Kikiliyamana Mountain, Great Western Mountain, Konical Hill Mountain, Kirigalpoththa Mountain (2nd highest peak), Thotupola Mountain (6th highest peak), Hakgala Mountain and Namunukula Mountain is visible wild boars, cows, buffaloes, deer and also a total of 105 bird species are to be seen on the moon plains.

Mon plains is situated about three kilometers from the city of Nuwaraeliya town. Once you reach the Moon Plains office, you are supposed to reserve a safari jeep to ascend moon plains.
